Asian Perspectives 2010

Asian Perspectives 2010, co-sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Inter-Asian Council and the Office of Undergraduate Admissions, is a weekend program designed to immerse admitted perspective students with the rich fabric of cultural life found at Johns Hopkins University.

Held from April 16-18th, 2010, with students given the option to arrive on April 15th, the weekend gives admitted students of Asian descent a unique perspective of the dynamic Johns Hopkins experience.

With the opportunity to sit-in on classes, to experience on-campus student life, to live in a freshmen residence hall, to get a taste of campus dining, and to explore neighborhoods around the university, Asian Perspectives 2010 offers an unparalleled experience for students grappling with the decision of where to attend college.

To register for Asian Perspectives, please follow the instructions on the invitation card sent with your acceptance packet or click “register” above. Currently, only Regular Decision admitted students are allowed to attend.

Asian Perspectives is a free event. Students will be paired up with a freshmen or sophomore host and live on-campus in a residence hall.

Most meals will be provided, with students able to experience campus dining at the freshmen dining hall – the Fresh Food Cafe.

However, transportation to and from Johns Hopkins University will be on your own.

The Inter-Asian Council

Founded in 1994 by the Office of the Dean of Student Life, the Inter-Asian Council at Johns Hopkins University has sought to foster unity among the Asian and Asian American communities at Homewood and to empower students to discuss issues of identity, politics, and race.

The Inter-Asian Council serves as a medium for Asian Pacific groups at Hopkins to collaborate and to work together towards shared goals and causes. Past events have involved philanthropy, identity workshops, social mixers, performances featuring prominent Asian American entertainers, team-building activities, and pan-Asian cultural events.

Every April, the Inter-Asian Council hosts the Asian Perspectives weekend, designed to give admitted students of Asian descent the opportunity to explore the vibrant cultural melting pot found here at Johns Hopkins.
